Dogs have been man's pet for over 14,000 years. Dogs descended from the wolf family that roamed
Asia, Europe, and North America. Now more than three hundred breeds of dogs exist worldwide. Get to know some of them here:


Affenpinscher - Anatolian Shepherd Dog

  • Affenpinscher
    Affenpinschers are fun-loving and sometimes mischievous.

  • Afghan Hound
    Afgan Hounds are dignified and aristocratic. They need long daily walks and runs.

  • Airedale Terrier
    Airedale Terriers are noble and bold, but also kind-hearted.

    Akitas are very strong, loyal and love the company of family.

  • Alaskan Malamute
    Alaskan Malamutes are playful and devoted. He is also powerful and needs a lot of exercise.

  • American Eskimo Dog
    Early in this century, the American Eskimo Dog was a favorite circus dog.

  • American Foxhound
    American Foxhounds are fast, strong and smart.

  • American Staffordshire
    American Staffordshire Terriers are by nature calm and quiet.

  • American Water Spaniel
    The American Water Spaniel is a family-loving dog that is intelligent and eager.

  • Anatolian Shepherd Dog
    Anatolian Shepherd Dogs are alert, intelligent and calm. He is very protective and loyal to his family.


Askal - Bedlington Terrier

  • Askal
    Askals are resilient and street-smart. They are intelligent dogs who need a better reputation.

  • Australian Cattle Dog
    Australian Cattle Dogs hard workers, independent and obedient.

  • Australian Kelpie
    A Kelpie is a hard, energetic and dedicated worker. Kelpies are easily trainable but far too energetic.

  • Australian Shepherd
    Australian Shepherds are intelligent, very alert and completely devoted to their owners.

  • Australian Terrier
    The Australian Terrier is alert and ready for anything!

  • Basenji
    Basenjis are busy and playful dogs. They are smart, fast and quiet. In fact, they don't bark at all!

  • Basset Hound
    Basset Hounds are sweet and gentle dogs. He is laid back, devoted and great with kids.

  • Beagle
    This Hound looks a little like the Foxhound but is smaller, with shorter legs and longer, softer ears.

  • Bearded Collie
    Bearded Collies still work as herders all over the world! They love exercise and are outgoing, friendly and humorous.

  • Bedlington Terrier
    Bedlington Terriers are independent, loving and unfussy. He makes a good playmate for children.


Belgian Malinois - Borzoi

  • Belgian Malinois
    The Belgian Malinois is smart and highly sensitive to his surroundings. They excel in herding, search and rescue and police dog work.

  • Belgian Sheepdog
    Belgian Sheepdogs are active and very loyal. They love playing games and obedience training.

  • Belgian Tervuren
    The Belgian Tervuren is intelligent and loves companionship and exercise. They make top-notch guide dogs for the disabled.

  • Bernese Mountain Dog
    The Bernese Mountain Dog is eager to please and easy to train. He likes children and especially enjoys pulling them in carts!

  • Bichon Frise
    The Bichon Frise are active, alert and curious. They get along with just about everyone they meet. Bichons are also highly trainable.

  • Black & Tan Coonhound
    The Black and Tan Coonhound likes fresh air and plenty of exercise. He loves people and behaves well inside the house.

  • Bloodhound
    Bloodhounds are intelligent and eager to please. He is also one of the kindest and gentlest of all dogs.

  • Border Collie
    Border Collies love to work and are great dogs for athletic people. He is eager to please and is fast and intelligent.

  • Border Terrier
    Border Terriers are alert and plucky. He is loving and eager to please his owner. He can adapt easily to city life.

  • Borzoi
    Borzois are gentle and dignified. They enjoy cold weather and long runs, but are quiet inside the house.
